$50,000 International Literary Award for Unpublished Work

We are looking for short stories, novels and screenplays, written in English, that give a voice to the inner lives of women. Your work can be romantic; a tale of science fiction; a sensual or erotic exploration; a comic caper; a thrilling mystery or a biographical memoir. We ask only that it gives fresh insight into the lives of women.

Winner Announced for the Half the World Global Literati Award 2016 -Canadian author Laurie Petrou recipient of inaugural US$50,000 international award–

Half the World Holdings, a women-focused investment platform, Friday announced Laurie Petrou as the winner of the inaugural Half the World Global Literati Award 2016. The prestigious international award recognizes unpublished work that reflects the complexity of women’s lives, and has at their heart a central female protagonist.

Mariella: Why do you feel we need this prize? Caroline: One of the reasons why Half the World Holdings decided to instigate this award is because they are an investment platform that actively seeks out women-focused companies. Research from Nicola Griffith points out that in the last 15 years the majority of literary competition prizes tended to go to pieces of work that did not have a woman at the heart of the story.
